Since 2018, Zion Lutheran Church has been serving children in need across our community by providing something many of us take for granted: a new pair of shoes.

For a child, new shoes mean more than comfort—they mean confidence, belonging, and the ability to fully participate in school life. Sadly, many students wear shoes that are too small, worn out, or have never owned a new pair at all.

That’s why we launched the Beautiful Feet Project, partnering with local school districts to identify students most in need. With help from donors and volunteers, Zion discreetly provides brand-new, properly fitted shoes to children who need them most.

This ministry is rooted in our call to care for both body and spirit. As Scripture says:

“How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news.” – Isaiah 52:7

“Put on… the readiness given by the gospel of peace.” – Ephesians 6:15

Shoes may seem simple, but they can change a child’s life—ending bullying, opening doors, and showing that they are seen and loved.

The impact doesn’t stop there. Through our partnership with organizations like Sneakers4Good, Zion also collects gently used shoes to be diverted from landfills and donated to small businesses in other countries to be resold or repurposed or sent to an apparel recycling facility.
