At Zion Lutheran Church, we believe that caring for the whole person—body, mind, and spirit—is part of the Christian calling to love our neighbor and honor the image of God in every individual. We recognize that mental health is not separate from spiritual health, and that those struggling with emotional burdens, trauma, anxiety, or depression deserve the same compassion, care, and support that we would offer for any physical ailment.

In 2018, Zion launched Grace Day 365, a year-round extension of our Grace Day outreach ministry, in partnership with Lutheran Family and Children’s Services (LFCS). This initiative began by placing professional  counselors in the Hillsboro R-3 School District to support students facing emotional and mental health challenges. Counselors now serve from offices directly in the schools or at a dedicated space on Zion’s campus, allowing trusted and accessible care to meet people where they are.

As of 2025, LFCS has expanded its services to offer counseling for people of all ages—children, teens, adults, and seniors—through in-person appointments at Zion or convenient telehealth sessions. Every counselor is trained to provide clinically sound and confidential care. This service is provided on a sliding fee scale and, in some cases, these services are grant funded.

We believe God works through His people and His provisions—including trained professionals—to bring healing, restoration, and hope. If you or someone you love is navigating a difficult season, please know you are not alone, and there is help available.
